my photos

Bakewell from RowanEmily95

So this is a PowerPoint of the photos that I think I'm going to use in my magazine. There aren't that any, as it wasn't the best day to go snapping pictures.

the Plan

I've had these plans for a while now, although they aren't particularly as detailed as I would have liked, they serve as my starting point for my magazine sections.
Please note- some of my final product elements that I have made so far are slightly different to my plan.

My Masthead

This is my masthead for my magazine. to find the fonts, I used a website called Dafont, which is a website that has a range of fonts for all kinds of purposes. For this I used two different fonts, Bower Shadows and... I used photoshop to merge the two images together and I am debating whether I should add some colour to the text.
I chose the name DoorStep Bakewell because it isnt just about the town itself, but about the surrounding area, including Ashford in the water, and the nature that is right on the doorstep of the residents. I think that if I were making this for real, I would make it part of a larger organisation that supply to rural areas, such as Bakewell, or in an earlier post, the Norfolk Broads. Too many people dont see what is right on their doorstep, which is why holidays are taken abroad rather than staying in Britain and exploring what they havent seen. I had a friend from cambridge who travelled to Sherwood forest for a holiday. This is what I aim to provide, more people exploring where they live.

Bakewell research

i have done some quick research of the area to get an idea of the kind of audience i will aim my magazine at. To do this, i have placed my findings on a spreadsheet, one commenting on the price of houses in the bakewell area compared to dinnington, and the other being the general age of the population within the area.

from this research, i have been able to determin that the people who live within the bakewell area are of high monetary income, because of the prices of the houses within the area, and that the majority of the population are between the ages of 35-84, the older generation.
i have decided that my aim though will be to apeal to the majority, that my regional magazine will appeal to a wide range of people for its diverse content, both directed towards high and low income, young and old, people who live there and people who often visit. it will be funded by the council, run by the council, due to its promotion of the town as a tourist location and a living location, and will be free.
